The open road is more than just some asphalt- or gravel-paved cross-country conveyor belt that takes people from one location to another, it’s a way to see different parts of the United States where one can meet fellow Americans and learn about who they are and that place’s history.
Check out that old Sinclair filling station off Georgia Highway 2/U.S. Highway 41 that has been restored and repurposed in Ringgold, Georgia, for example, or the plethora of murals off Route 66 in Tucumcari, New Mexico, that pays homage to the area’s history.
My name is Gregory “Highway” Hasman and I have been fortunate and blessed to have seen dozens of communities, large and small, like these across the U.S. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and have lived in Texas, Wyoming, and now call Albuquerque, New Mexico, home.
